Crews from the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company were called at around 7 p.m. on Thursday night to the 1900 block of Michael rive in Edgewood, where there were reports of a residence on fire.

Upon arrival, they found smoke coming from a mobile home. The fire was quickly extinguished, but not before the flames gutted the home and left it with extensive damage.

According to officials, a homeowner was taken by Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment of first- and second-degree burns to his face and legs after attempting to extinguish the fire himself.

He was listed in stable condition on Friday afternoon.

A firefighter also fell through the roof of the residence but was uninjured.
